With the advent of an ever growing, worldwide awareness of global pollution levels and as a result, dire warnings about the negative impact of global warming on the health of the planet, we at Go-Betweens strive to remain conscious of the direct effect we have on the environment and the effects of our business activity on the wider community as a whole.
It is of the utmost importance to Go-Betweens that we are not only conscious of this, but also that we endeavour to take action to do all we can to make a positive contribution, through our work, in creating a sustainable and healthy future for all.
As a direct result, Go-Betweens have taken the step of becoming London's first carbon neutral courier company.
Beginning with an independent audit carried out by The World Land Trust, Go-Betweens has offset its total CO2 emissions by supporting their Carbon Balanced programme of environmental initiatives. This comprehensive audit has covered not only our entire fleet of motorbikes and vans (calculated using engine size and mileage), but also fully encompasses all fuel and energy output from our head offices in Clerkenwell.
What this means in practice is that with investment from us, The World Land Trust actively offset our carbon output by regenerating habitat as part of one of their conservation projects, designed to provide measurable carbon offsets. As a registered charity they have over 17 years of experience in protecting bio diverse habitats in strategic areas across the globe. By applying strict conservation criteria to their projects, they remove harmful carbon dioxide emissions from the atmosphere whilst also providing valuable protection to some of the most fragile and vulnerable eco-systems in the world. |
